Naming Tools: Latin Roots & Animal Qualities

Want a shortcut to naming your business or product? First, make a quick list of qualities you want your name to represent. Second, find the latin or greek equivalent. Third, make a list of animals that can symbolize those characteristics. Then make word combinations.

Qualities and latin equivalants:

Fast = celer, celeris, celere (as in accelerate)
Easy = facilis, facile (as in facilitate)
Strong = fortes, forte, firmus, firma, firmum (as in fort or firm)
Trust = fiducia, fiduciae, fides, fidei (as in fiduciary)

Animals that symbolize qualities:

Cheetah: Fast
Lion: Strong, dominant, carnivous
Rhino: Tough, strong, charging
Bear: Woods, strong, rustic
Owl: Wise
Dog: Guardian, Safe, Trustworthy

EXAMPLE: If you wanted to name a t-shirt line that symbolized strength, you could try a few of these variations:

RhinoTees
T-Bears
CottonForte

By combining something that symbolizes the quality and a play on the actual product or service, you're able to create memorable names quickly and easily.

You're able to find Greek and Latin roots here: http://abasiccurriculum.com/homeschool/roots/. There are also several sites that will do a pure english to greek translation, etc. Just "Google" it.
